WASHINGTON – The US Dept. of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Dec. 15 that Easton, Pennsylvania-based R&R Provision Company Inc. is recalling approximately 23,040 lbs. of breaded veal products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The products contain whey and nonfat milk.

The products, bearing establishment number “EST. 1081” inside the USDA mark of inspection, were sold from the R&R Provision Co. retail store and shipped to restaurants in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The breaded veal items were produced from April 14, 2016, through Nov. 17, 2016. The following products are subject to recall:

• 5.3-oz. plastic sealed packages containing 30 pieces of “BREADED VEAL STEAKS” bearing package code RR27-4102.
• 7.5- oz. plastic sealed packages containing 20 pieces of “BREADED VEAL STEAKS” bearing package code RR27-4142.
• 5.3- oz. plastic sealed packages containing 30 pieces of “BREADED VEAL STEAKS” bearing the package code RR27-4122.
• 4- oz. plastic sealed packages containing 40 pieces of “BREADED VEAL STEAKS” bearing the package code RR27-4132.
• 4- oz. plastic sealed packages containing 30 pieces of “BREADED VEAL PATTIES” bearing the package code RR27-4092.
• 5.3- oz. plastic sealed packages containing 40 pieces of “BREADED VEAL PATTIES” bearing the package code RR27-5002.

FSIS Inspection Program Personnel discovered the mislabeling issue on Dec. 14 during routine label verification procedures. R&R’s breading supplier had sent a notification of new ingredients to the company but those ingredients did not get transferred onto the final product label.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the products.
