PHILADELPHIA – An animal welfare group accused a supplier of eggs for Malvern, Pennsylvania-based Eggland’s Best LLC of animal cruelty and neglect.

Mercy For Animals released video footage taken at several Briarwood Farms locations in Rochester and Oakville, Washington. The video was taken from Feb. 29 to May 12. The group claims that the problems documented in the video stem from confinement cages. The video is available at www.EgglandsWorst.com.

Mercy For Animals urged the company to switch to cage-free housing for hens on contract farms. Eggland’s Best does offer cage-free eggs in addition to conventional and organic eggs.
