Pilgrim's Pride recall expanded to include 4.5 million lbs. of product

WASHINGTON  – Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. announced a recall of approximately 4.5 million lbs. of fully cooked chicken products on April 26. According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the US Dept. of Agriculture, the products may be contaminated with extraneous materials including plastic, wood, rubber and metal.

Pilgrim’s, a unit of Sao Paulo, Brazil-based JBS SA, announced a recall of  approximately 41,000 lbs. of chicken nuggets on April 7 after the company  received consumer complaints about plastic contamination in Gold Kist Farms brand chicken nuggets. 

The recall includes products produced on various dates between Aug. 21, 2014, to March 1, 2016.

The products being recalled include:  

  • 30 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Breaded Chicken Nuggets.
  • 20 ib. boxes containing  5 lb. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Menu Right Fully Cooked Whole Grain Breaded Chicken Nuggets Breaded Nugget Shaped Chicken Patties.
  • 30 lb. boxes containing 5 Ib. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Homestyle Breaded Strip Shaped Chicken Patties.
  • 30 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Homestyle Breaded Breakfast Chicken Patties.
  • 30 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Homestyle Breaded Chicken Patty.
  • 30 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Hot & Spicy Breaded Chicken Patty.
  • 20 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Popcorn Style Chicken Patty Fritters.
  • 10 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of PIERCE CHICKEN Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Tenderloins.
  • 30 lb. boxes containing of 5 lb. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Breaded Chicken Nuggets Nugget Shaped Chicken Patties.
  • 30 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Home-style Breaded Chicken Nuggets Nugget Shaped Chicken Patties.
  • 30 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Home-style Breaded Chicken Strip Shaped Chicken Patties.

  • 30 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Breaded Chicken Patties.
  • 30 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Home-style Breaded Chicken Patties.
  • 30 lb. boxes containing of 5 lb. clear bags of GOLD KIST FARMS Fully Cooked Whole Grain Hot & Spicy Breaded Chicken Patties.
  • 10 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of SWEET GEORGIA BRAND Fully Cooked Whole Grain Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets Breaded Nugget Shaped Chicken Patties with Rib Meat.
  • 10 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of SWEET GEORGIA BRAND Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Tenderloins.  
  • 10 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. clear bags of  SWEET GEORGIA BRAND  Fully Cooked Whole Grain Popcorn Style Chicken Patty Fritters.
  • 10 lb. boxes containing 5 lb.  SWEET GEORGIA BRAND Fully Cooked Whole Grain Hot and Spicy Breaded Chicken Patty.   
  • 10 lb. boxes containing 5 lb. SWEET GEORGIA BRAND Fully Cooked Whole Grain Breaded Chicken Nuggets Nugget Shaped Chicken Patties.
  • 10 lb. boxes containing 5 lb.  SWEET GEORGIA BRAND Fully Cooked Whole Grain Breaded Chicken Breast Patties with Rib Meat.
  • 10 lb. boxes containing 5 lb.  SWEET GEORGIA BRAND Fully Cooked Whole Grain Breaded Chicken Patties.
  • 10 lb. boxes containing 5 lb.  SWEET GEORGIA BRAND Fully Cooked Whole Grain Hot and Spicy Breaded Chicken Patties.

 

FSIS said the affected products bear  establishment number “EST. 20728” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
