WASHINGTON – Two companies launched recalls of meat and poultry products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the US Dept. of Agriculture reported.

Cloverdale Foods Company in Mandan, ND, recalled approximately 5,208 lbs. of beef and pork jalapeno cheddar bratwurst because the products contain milk and were incorrectly labeled as beef frankfurters. A co-signee of Cloverdale Foods discovered the problem during a store audit, FSIS said. The company then notified FSIS. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

The affected products were produced on Sept. 21 and Oct. 2, and bear the establishment number “EST. 7603” inside the USDA mark of inspection. FSIS said the items were shipped to three distributors and then distributed nationwide. The affected products include 10 oz. packages labeled as “TETON WATERS RANCH UNCURED BEEF FRANKFURTERS” with the use by dates of “12/5/15” and “12/16/15”.

Boulder Natural Meats in Denver also recalled beef, pork and poultry sausages and burgers due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The company recalled 3,607 lbs. of products because the ingredient statement was missing and some products contained milk, a known allergen.

FSIS said one of its investigators observed misbranded meat products at a retail store. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions associated with the products, which were produced on various dates. The affected items include:

• 10-lb. vacuum sealed packages of “BN CHICKEN MILD ITALIAN SAUSAGE”
