Chicago firm recalls nearly 170,000 lbs. of beef

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – El Cubano Wholesale Meats initiated a recall of 169,620 lbs. of beef cheek-meat products on concerns the meat is contaminated with a strain of E. coli
, the Illinois Department of Agriculture reported.
In a statement, the agency said the products were distributed to stores and restaurants in Chicago. A routine inspection uncovered the problem.
Products subject to the recall have the establishment number "EST. 4653a" inside the USDA mark of inspection and the establishment name "Iowa Best Beef".
