Campos Foods recalls 137K lbs. of burger products over allergen concerns

CARYVILLE, Tenn. – Officials with Campos Foods, LLC issued a recall of 136, 950 lbs. of beef products on March 2, due to an allergen, wheat, not being declared on the label of ready–to-eat cheeseburger products sent to retail customers in Texas. According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, the allergen was discovered in a spice mix used to manufacture the products produced between Aug. 22, 2014 and Jan. 9, 2015.
The retail customer is San Antonio-based H-E-B and the products include:
15-lb. cases containing eight 3.75 oz. burgers of “H-E-B FULLY COOKED THICK N’ TASTY Bacon CHEESE BURGERS NATURAL SMOKE FLAVOR ADDED” and 15-lb. cases containing eight 3.75 oz. burgers of “H-E-B FULLY COOKED THICK N’ TASTY CHEESE BURGERS NATURAL SMOKE FLAVOR ADDED.”
The products subject to recall include the establishment number “EST. 2260 T” on the USDA mark of inspection. According to FSIS and Campos, no reports of adverse reactions have been reported as a result of consumption of these products.
