Georgia firm recalls chicken products

WASHINGTON – Undeclared allergens prompted Prime Pak Foods, Gainesville, Ga., to recall 24,000 lbs. of chicken breast products, the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service reported.
The fully cooked and breaded chicken products were made with egg and wheat, known allergens that were not declared on the product label. An FSIS inspector discovered the problem and notified the company on April 17. Prime Pak investigated the matter and found the company had not listed all ingredients on the packaging labels. There have been no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the products, FSIS noted.
The affected products subject to the recall include:
•2, 5-lb. bags in a 10-lb. box of “Sugar Lake Farms Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast Tenders” with the product code 77422 printed on the box.
•2, 5-lb. bags in a 10-lb. box of “Sugar Lake Farms Fully Cooked Spicy Breaded Chicken Breast Chunks” with the product code 77448 printed on the box.
The products were produced from Dec. 12, 2012, to March 21, 2014. The products bear the establishment number “P-9165” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Prime Pak distributed the products to hotels, restaurants and institutions nationwide.
