CFIA updates ground-beef recall

OTTAWA, Ontario – Consumers in Canada are being warned not to eat Kirkland Signature brand Organic Lean Ground Beef and Lean Ground Beef on concerns the products may be contaminated by E. coli, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency reported. Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd. issued a voluntary recall on Oct. 11. The Kirkland Signature Lean Ground Beef was added to the recall on Oct. 17.

The Lean Ground Beef products were sold by Costco Wholesale Canada at one location in Lethbridge, Alberta. The organic ground beef was sold at warehouse stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. No illnesses have been reported in connection to these products, CFIA said.
