OTTAWA, Ontario – Belmont Meats Ltd. has added to its recent recall frozen beef burgers on concerns the products may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

An unspecified amount of Sunspun brand Bearpaw-shaped Beef Burgers and Compliments brand Traditional Beef Burgers were added to the recall, although no illnesses have been reported in connection to the products. The company also recalled its uncooked lean ground beef on Oct. 20.

Toronto-based Belmont Meats is voluntarily recalling affected products from the marketplace as part of an ongoing food-safety investigation that began after a recent outbreak of E. coli infections that were linked to other Belmont Meats products. Local news reports state that as of Oct. 9, at least seven cases of E. coli infections were confirmed in Ontario.
