WASHINGTON – Addison, Ill.-based Perfect Pasta Inc. recalled 315 lbs. of ready-to-eat roast beef products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service reported Feb. 14.

FSIS discovered the problem through microbiological testing. The company held most of its products after receiving the test results. But some products may have been cross-contaminated because equipment was not cleaned between production shifts. Some cross-contaminated products were shipped to institutions in Chicago, FSIS said. No illnesses have been reported.

The product subject to recall is 5-lb. packages of “Gina Fully Cooked Roast Beef With Seasoned Juice” with a lot code number of “040615RB” and a pack date of “02-06-13.” The products bear the establishment number “EST. 19829” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were produced on Feb. 6 and distributed to institutions in Chicago.
