MONTREAL – Romana Food Brands Corp. completed its acquisition of Pasta Romana, a Montreal-based pizza manufacturer. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Romana Food Brands expects the acquisition to bolster its position in the North American food manufacturing and processing industry. Pizza Romana is a major player in the food manufacturing industry with budgeted sales of more than $17 million in fiscal 2018. Pasta Romana’s product line includes fresh pasta, fresh filled pastas, sauces  and pesto.

“This is a very significant milestone in our strategy to become a leader in the industry,” said Morrie Fogelbaum, chairman and CEO of Romana Food Brands. “We anticipate, that between our plans to grow the Pizza Romana brand, and the potential represented by private labelling, these delicious premium pizza products will become fundamental in our strategy for growth.”

Pizza Romana makes pizzas for Imvescor Restaurant Group Inc. under the “Mike’s” private label, and distributes product through Colabor, Costco, Loblaws, Metro, Regitan, Sobey’s, and Wal-Mart. The company operates in 60,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space with potential for future expansion. The facility has the capacity to produce 5,000 thin-crust pizzas per hour and 5,000 rising crust or stuffed crust pizzas per hour.
