Slideshow: Protein goes with garlic in menu innovation

KANSAS CITY — Garlic is the preferred partner of protein in several new menu items.

Garlic chimes in with chicken in El Pollo Loco’s new Double Garlic Chicken Bowl. The dish features chicken, garlic butter, cabbage, beans, rice and pico.

In a rendezvous with roast beef, garlic appears on McAlister’s Deli’s new Garlic Herb Roast Beef Sandwich. It features roast beef topped with cheddar cheese, garlic herb mayo, tomato and spring mix served on toasted 9-grain bread.

Garlic and roast beef team up again in Main Event Entertainment’s new Roast Beef Dippers. The trio of miniature sandwiches feature shaved roast beef, horseradish mayonnaise, shredded lettuce, tomato and red onion served on buttery garlic knot buns with a side of au jus.
