North Country Smokehouse opens new facility in Claremont, New Hampshire

North Country Smokehouse opened its new facility in New Hampshire.
 
CLAREMONT, N.H. – North Country Smokehouse celebrated the official opening of its new facility with staff, business associates, friends and members of the community on Oct. 22. Two-hundred people attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the 65,000-sq.-ft. facility. The new building is located in the Syd Clark Industrial Park, located on 85 acres of Grissom Road and just five miles off Interstate 91.

At over four times the size of the previous facility, the new North Country building features post and beam construction, high-tech processing equipment, employee-friendly open space and glass with a large breakroom. North Country expects to hire approximately 15 additional employees to handle higher and more efficient production.

Claremont’s Mayor, Charlene Lovett, joined Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce for Claremont, Elyse Crosman, as well as members of the Breton family (whose company acquired North Country Smokehouse in 2015) and the Satzow family for the ribbon cutting. The company was founded in Claremont in 1912 by Mike Satzow’s grandfather.

The Breton family owns and operates duBreton, the largest organic and natural pork producer in North America. The company was founded in 1944, has more than 550 employees and utilizes a network of over 200 farms in Quebec and Ontario.

“We were so pleased with the turnout for the event and to celebrate the fact that we will continue to grow the North Country Smokehouse in Claremont,” Mike Satzow, executive vice president of sales and marketing for the company, said in a statement. “I know that we will grow and thrive here and am so pleased that the Breton family was on hand to join us and is so committed to keeping the smokehouse local.”

North Country Smokehouse serves customers that include Whole Foods and Hannaford Supermarkets, as well as many five-star restaurants.
