Slideshow: Sampling Kansas City's barbecue

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — At the 2017 American Royal World Series of Barbecue, held Labor Day weekend, attendees were given the opportunity to sample offerings from eight different vendors of Kansas City-style barbecue.

By purchasing a barbecue “passport,” meat lovers were invited to a designated tasting area, where they sampled low-and-slow meats made by participating foodservice companies, caterers and barbecue competition teams. Some of the restaurants included were:

  • Zarda Bar-B-Q
  • Famous Dave’s
  • Dickey’s Barbecue Pit
  • Wild Frontier BBQ
  • MadMan’s KC BBQ
  • Blind Box BBQ
  • Smoke ‘n Babes
