The agency plans to distribute pit harm products as part of federal assistance programs.
WASHINGTON – The US Dept. of Agriculture’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) plans to buy smoked pit ham products for the agency’s federal nutrition assistance programs, including the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations.
USDA announced that all offers must be submitted electronically through the Web-Based Supply Chain Management website. The pit ham purchases are among 200 solicitations and purchases for different foods on an ongoing basis.
The purchasing programs provide an outlet for surplus products and encourage consumption of domestically produced products, according to the AMS. The foods are delivered to schools, food banks and households across the United States.
