FRANKFORT, Ky. – Economic developers approved $400,000 in tax incentives to support a renovation project at The Hillshire Brands Co. facility in Alexandria, Kentucky, valued at $50 million. Hillshire is a subsidiary of Tyson Foods Inc., based in Springdale, Arkansas, which acquired the facility as part of its acquisition of Hillshire in 2014. The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA) approved the incentives at its meeting on July 27.
The expansion project is to include a wastewater treatment facility in addition to a cold storage warehousing operation. According to the KEDFA, the project will create 16 jobs initially and up to 26 jobs in the next 10 years.
