SPRINGDALE, Ark. – Officials with Tyson Foods Inc. expanded its board of directors to 11 members with the appointment of Jeffrey K. Schomburger, one of eight independent directors on the Tyson board who also serves as global sales officer for Procter & Gamble. His appointment was effective Dec. 5.

At the age of 54, Schomburger has held leadership positions with P&G since joining the company in 1984, when he started as a sales representative and worked his way of the ladder including his most recent role as president of its global Walmart team from 2005 to 2015.

“Jeff’s deep understanding of the branded consumer packaged goods business and his experience as a leader are among the reasons our nominating committee recommended him,” said John Tyson, chairman of the board We’re pleased to have him on the board and look forward to his input as we continue to grow our branded food business.”

Schomburger is a graduate of the Univ. of North Carolina where he earned a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Schomburger joins John Tyson on the board, which also includes:  Barbara A. Tyson, Gaurdie E. Banister Jr., Mike Beebe, Mikel A. Durham, Tom Hayes, Donnie Smith, Kevin M. McNamara; Brad T. Sauer and Robert Thurber.
