Ads focus on Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms turkeys.
WICHITA, Kan. – Marketing officials with Cargill hope a new promotional TV ad campaign will entice consumers to gobble up its Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms turkey brands for the holidays. A series of ads will debut the week before Thanksgiving on network, cable and digital TV channels across the United States. Instead of actors, the holiday ad spots will feature independent, family farmers who raise turkeys for Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms in an attempt to show authenticity and transparency. The tagline for the campaign is: “Honest. Simple. Turkey.”
“Thanksgiving is a time where families gather, celebrate tradition and find inspiration during the holiday season,” Jan Hood, head of marketing for Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms, said in a statement. “We’re inspired every day by our 700 independent family farmers who raise honest, simple turkey without growth-promoting antibiotics, added hormones or steroids. They work diligently throughout the year so that families can sit down together around their Thanksgiving tables and enjoy a wonderful turkey dinner.”
Cargill’s goal in creating the holiday season ad campaign is to celebrate the many family traditions that take place on Thanksgiving in the US. The company wants to provide turkeys to make Thanksgiving memorable to American families. The 30-second commercials will air during morning news broadcasts and in the evenings, during prime time.
The campaign also includes video vignettes of, “An Honest Meal.” This series of promotions feature food bloggers who visited turkey farms and created recipes reflecting their time and experience with the farmers. At the end, the farmers and bloggers shared a Thanksgiving meal.
Honeysuckle White and Shady Brook Farms eliminated antibiotics for growth promotion in early 2015 and the use of gentamicin (a drug used for both animal and human health) in hatcheries early this year.
