BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Hundreds of manufacturers are expected to descend upon Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s headquarters in Bentonville for the company’s fourth annual US Manufacturing Summit. Makers of everything from food to toys to clothes will pitch their products in hopes of landing a place on Walmart and Sam’s Club store shelves.
“We are thrilled to put hundreds of new Made in the USA products on Walmart.com,” said Michelle Gloeckler, executive vice president, Consumables, Health & Wellness, US Manufacturing Lead. “Walmart’s $250 billion commitment to buy products supporting American jobs is having a tangible impact on communities across the country as factories expand or open to make products for Walmart stores, Walmart.com and Sam’s Club.”
Walmart expects companies and entrepreneurs from more than 40 states to attend with nearly 800 deal-making meetings expected to take place. This year, the company is putting every shelf-stable item pitched at the open call on Walmart.com.
Walmart reports nearly 260 million customers and members visit the company’s 11,527 stores under 63 banners in 28 countries. Walmart operates e-commerce websites in 11 countries. Walmart reported fiscal 2016 revenues of $482 billion.
