SPAM Museum in Austin, Minnesota
The new SPAM Museum features new exhibits combined with past attractions from the old location.
 

AUSTIN, Minn. – Hormel Foods Corp. has announced the opening of a 14,000-sq.-ft. museum to celebrate the 79-year history of SPAM products and the 125-year history of Hormel Foods in downtown Austin, Minnesota.

The museum’s new location includes exhibits from the old location, plus new experiences that include SPAM’s global popularity and its historical connection with the military.

“We are excited to open the SPAM Museum in downtown Austin and share this new, interactive experience with SPAM fans across the globe,” said Nicole Behne, marketing director, grocery products at Hormel Foods. “As we prepare to celebrate the 125th anniversary of our company in Austin, throughout the country and the world, this new SPAM Museum will be a great way for people to connect with the iconic SPAM products and Hormel Foods.”

Hormel hopes to connect people to the iconic SPAM brand and draw more foot traffic to downtown Austin, Minnesota.

Hormel hopes the downtown Austin location will help surrounding businesses. Savile C. Lord, manager of the museum and community relations at Hormel Foods, said in a statement that the intent of the downtown location is to support growth in the area and create a destination for tourists and residents alike.

“We hope that the new downtown location will allow people to see all that Austin has to offer including great restaurants and shopping,” he added.

The SPAM Museum is open seven days a week and is located at 101 3rd Avenue NE, Austin, Minnesota.
