NAMI elects new officers

WASHINGTON, DC – The North American Meat Institute (NAMI) elected five new officers at its 2015 Annual Meeting and Outlook Conference Oct. 2-5 in Washington.
Brian Coelho, president of Central Valley Meat Co., Inc., will serve as chairman of the Board of Directors, while Mike Townsley, president of Bob Evans Farms, Inc., will serve as vice chairman.
John Vatri, Cardinal Meat Specialists, Ltd. vice president of operations assumed the position of treasurer and Sara Lilygren, executive vice president of corporate affairs for Tyson Foods, Inc., will be the new secretary. Dave McDonald, president and chief operating officer of OSI Group, LLC, will serve as immediate past chairman.
The NAMI membership also adopted new statements of its vision, mission and core values during the meeting.
The new vision statement is:
“Be the preeminent source of information, education, and services that enable meat and poultry companies to nourish people around the world with safe, nutritious, and sustainable protein.”
The association’s new mission is:
“To be a catalyst for continuous innovation and improvement; a strong advocate for the meat and poultry community before consumers, policymakers and media; and a vehicle for members of all sizes to develop positive, constructive and long lasting relationships.”
And, the core values are:
“We value the consumer’s voice and right to choose.”
“We value the essential contributions made by the producer community and our supplier partners.”
“We value partnering relationships in an effort to continuously improve our industry, our products, and our services.”
“We value the diversity within our industry.”
“We value the ethical treatment of animals in our care.”
