WINDOM, Minn. – PM Beef, a beef processing business in Southwest Minnesota, announced that the company is closing, according to a Daily Globe report. The plant will cease operations on Dec. 11.

In a letter to Windom Mayor Corey Maricle, the company said “This action is expected to be permanent.” News reports state 262 workers will be affected by the closure.

The company’s website depicts PM Beef as a “leading domestic and international supplier” of premium beef with partners at “several upscale regional retailers” and foodservice operators. Its Amana Beef line of “USDA Choice” products were previously featured at regional retailers, including Hy-Vee. The company was founded by Metromedia, a holding company, in the 1990s.
