KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Tesla Motors, Inc., a pioneer in electric cars, will sell batteries to Cargill and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., according to Bloomberg. The pilot program is part of Tesla CEO Elon Musk's ambition to sell batteries for commercial and household use.

Cargill plans to use a one mega-watt system in a beef processing plant in Fresno, Calif. Mike Martin, director of communications for Cargill, said details about the project will be announced next week.

The project is part of California's Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) which provides rebates for qualifying distributed energy systems installed on customers' premises.
