OAK BROOK, Ill. – McDonald's USA is asking customers to ask questions about the chain's food.

The quick-service giant has launched "Our Food. Your Questions", a multi-media initiative aimed at granting customers access to information about McDonald's ingredients, how food is made and how it's prepared in its restaurants. Starting Oct. 13, individuals can submit their questions about McDonald's food via social media. McDonald's plans to respond with behind-the-scenes "webisodes" and other social media content.

Grant Imahara, a former host of Discovery Channel's "Mythbusters" show, will be filmed finding the answers to customers' questions by visiting McDonald's suppliers and restaurants across the United States. McDonald's will capture these visits in a series of videos that will appear on the company's website, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube channels. "McDonald's will take to these same channels to answer food questions, share multimedia content and engage in open conversation," the company said. Similar initiatives were launched in other countries such as Canada and Australia
.
"In today's 24/7 news cycle, people are looking for faster, more straightforward responses to their questions about our food," said Ben Stringfellow, vice president of communications for McDonald's USA. "We have great information to share and we're looking forward to engaging in two-way conversations with as many people as possible."
