ROSE HILL, NC – An employee at a House of Raeford Farms chicken processing plant in West Columbia, SC, is recovering from surgery after his leg was caught in an auger late on the evening of June 3.

Local police closed the road in front of the plant while emergency crews rescued the 43 year-old man, according to local news reports. The company and the South Carolina Department of Labor are investigating the accident.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the patient and his family,” the company said in a statement. “House of Raeford Farms is taking every measure possible to ensure the safety of our employees, equipment and operations.”
