AMI awards for Smithfield

SMITHFIELD, Va. – Smithfield Foods received 74 awards from the American Meat Institute (AMI) Foundation for environmental and worker safety performance across the company's facilities.
AMIF recognized 35 Smithfield Foods facilities with Environmental Recognition Awards. The award is a four-tier voluntary environmental management system toolbox. Tier 1 represents simple environmental compliance policies while Tier 4 is an ISO 14001, the most complex program. All of Smithfield's Environmental Recognition Awards were in Tier 4.
Eight facilities received the Worker Safety Awards of Honor, which is based on each facility's actual safety performance and the effective implementation of various key components of safety and health programs.
Finally, 31 Smithfield Foods facilities were honored with Worker Safety Awards for outstanding achievements in workplace safety.
