MONROE, NC – Police in Monroe, NC had a suspect in custody after two men were shot and wounded in the parking lot of a Tyson Foods, Inc. chicken processing plant, according to an Associated Press report.

Police were called to the plant sometime after 5 a.m. Dec. 13. Police said one of the victims made the call for help. The victims were taken to Carolinas Medical Center. Their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

"We're cooperating with local police who are investigating an incident that happened in the parking lot of our plant this morning," said Worth Sparkman, a Tyson spokesman said in an email to Meat&Poultry. "We have very few details, but can tell you that, to our knowledge, the people injured are not employed by our company."

The Monroe plant is a poultry tray-packing facility that employs roughly 1,400 workers.
