It’s almost time for the 2014 International Production & Processing Expo (IPPE), which takes place Jan. 28-30, 2014, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Ga. Poultry, feed and allied-industry leaders from around the world will attend to see the most comprehensive display of the latest technology, equipment, supplies, and services used by poultry, feed and meat companies. Now comprised of three integrated tradeshows – International Poultry Expo, International Feed Expo and the International Meat Expo, IPPE features the world’s largest annual gathering of industry leaders.
The show, sponsored by US Poultry & Egg Association, the American Feed Industry Association and the American Meat Institute, is expected to bring together more than 1,100 exhibitors and over 25,000 attendees to Atlanta. The 2013 show featured more than 5,448 international visitors from over 110 countries. In addition, there were 1,189 exhibitors with over 430,000 net sq. ft. of exhibit space, placing the show in the top 50 in the United States.
IPPE Week in Atlanta will feature dynamic education programs starting Monday, Jan. 27 through Friday, Jan. 31 that will address a number of current industry issues. The education program schedule includes the annual lineup of the International Poultry Scientific Forum, Pet Food Conference, Animal Agriculture Sustainability Summit and AFIA International Feed Education Program. As part of the 2014 IPPE education schedule, the Meat and Poultry Research Showcase will provide cutting-edge scientific presentations in practical applied ways, exploring the latest research in the meat and poultry industry. The Showcase will be held from 8 a.m. – noon on Thursday, Jan 30. The registration fee for the program is $150 for all Expo attendees.
Co-sponsored by the American Meat Institute, US Poultry & Egg Association, National Pork Board and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, the Meat and Poultry Research Showcase serves as the leading forum for presenting the most current meat and poultry production research and its direct application to the industry. The research presented will cover consumer and market research, as well as research on vaccination, production, processing and food safety.
The program agenda consists of the following topics: NCBA/NPB Market Research Update; Attribution Research, PEDv and Biosecurity; Advances in Understanding Vaccination to Control Infectious Bronchitis Virus; Advances in the Development of a Safe and Efficacious Vaccine to Control Infectious Laryngotrachetis; The Effect of Increasing the Protein Content of Breakfast on Satiety and Cognitive Function in Undergraduate Students; Influences of Commercial Deep Chilling Processes on Early Postmortem Events in Muscle that Affect Ultimate Fresh Pork Tenderness and Processing Quality; Salmonella Beef Research; Salmonella Turkey Research; Reducing or Preventing Recovery of Injured Listeria monocytogenes on Ready-to-Eat Natural and Organic “Uncured” Processed Meats; and Investigating the Development of Thermal Processing Tools to Improve the Safety of Ready-to-Eat Meat and Poultry Products.
IPPE will also feature some fun activities including a hot-wing contest, chili cook-off, Oscar Mayer Wienermobile interactive activities and giveaways, Smithsonian and AVMA Animal Connections: Our Journey Together mobile exhibit and the Drive to Feed mobile exhibit. Also, attendees can experience the Georgia Aquarium while networking with colleagues at the International Networking Reception on Tuesday, Jan. 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Attendee and exhibitor pre-registration and hotel registration for the 2014 IPPE is open. Online is the only way to pre-register for the discounted price of $50 through Dec. 31.
