GORDON, Neb. – Open Range Beef is the new owner of a processing plant once owned by Sholom Rubashkin, former CEO of Agriprocessors, Inc. Rubashkin was convicted in November 2009 of federal charges tied to bank fraud.

City officials and First Bank Business Capital, Inc., St. Louis, bought the real estate and personal property through a trustee sale in 2009, according to the Sheridan County Journal Star.

Re-opening the plant, which will process beef only, will create 60 to 70 new jobs.
