Chicken substitute to debut at Whole Foods

MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. – Beyond Meat, a 100 percent vegan protein product, is set to debut in retailers nationwide this summer.
In lightly seasoned, grilled and Southwest varieties, the chicken substitute contains a blend of soy and pea protein. The product is free of cholesterol, gluten, dairy, meat and egg, as well as bioengineered ingredients, hormones or antibiotics. A 3-oz serving contains 18 grams of protein.
Beyond Meat will be available in select Whole Foods stores beginning this spring with a wider release planned for July.
