KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Multivac, Inc., has launched Direct Packaging Solutions (DPS), a new business unit that will provide customized consultations and expertise for small and mid-size food processors and packagers in addition to foodservice operations nationwide. Brett Cockrum will lead the new unit, the company said.
The DPS unit stocks small and mid-sized new, pre-owned and remanufactured packaging equipment at Multivac's Kansas City, Mo.-based facility. The company also is offering its customers use of Multivac's package testing and application center to try out new packaging concepts with help from Multivac experts.
“The creation of our DPS business unit is another step in providing these growing businesses with the expert consultation and support they need to build their brands and drive profitability through innovative, cost-effective packaging. With his years of experience in the food and equipment businesses, Brett Cockrum is well prepared to lead our DPS group on this mission," said Jan Erik Kuhlmann, president and chief executive officer of Multivac.
Cockrum joins Multivac from Mepaco/Apache Stainless Equipment Corp., where he served as a national accounts manager. He was also a sales manager at Baader North America and director of equipment manufacturing at Huhtamaki packaging.
