M&P names Operations Exec. of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Henry Morris, senior corporate vice president of operations and engineering with Smithfield Foods, Inc., was recently recognized as Meat&Poultry’s first-ever, Operations Executive of the Year.
His dedication to pursuing operational excellence and exemplary leadership have earned Morris a reputation throughout the industry for delivering solutions based on innovation, integrity and hard work. As the recipient of this prestigious award, Morris will be the focus of a cover story in the April issue of Meat&Poultry.
Joel Crews, Meat&Poultry Editor, recently sat down with Morris to discuss his fascinating career path and his many accomplishments. This story chronicles his career back to his days engineering aircraft at General Dynamics and including his first job in the meat industry, at Owens Country Sausage. Morris reflects on his mentors, his personal and business philosophies and his vision for the industry and the plant of the future.
