Murphy-Brown president to retire

WARSAW, NC – Jerry Goodwin, president of Murphy-Brown LLC, announced his retirement effective July 31. The company is a subsidiary of Smithfield Foods, Inc.

Robert W. Manly, who is currently executive vice president and chief financial officer, will assume the additional role as president of the company upon Goodwin's retirement. Manly was named executive vice president of Murphy-Brown in August 2006. He was president and chief operating officer of Premium Standard Farms before assuming his executive role at Murphy-Brown.
