Dietz & Watson launches lower-salt ham

PHILADELPHIA – Dietz & Watson has launched its All Natural Uncured Classic Dinner Ham that features lower sodium than many other hams.
The product is uncured, prepared with Sea Salt, horizontally sliced and features a slightly smoked flavor, totaling approximately 6 lbs. in weight. Most product is selling for under $4 a lb., a company spokesman told MEATPOULTRY.com.
In introducing this ham, the company began on the Atlantic Coast by sponsoring sampling events, plus it launched Internet and direct mail couponing.
This product was developed for markets in the West where consumers have the reputation for being more health-conscious. However, Dietz & Watson said this new product is taking its home-base markets in the East by storm due to its quality and flavor, among other attributes.
