El Pollo Loco appoints new chief marketing officer

COSTA MESA, Calif. – Officials with El Pollo Loco Inc. have announced the appointment of Ed Valle as its chief marketing officer. Valle has experience in the restaurant industry and in consumer packaged goods and brand marketing at the national and global level.
Most recently, Valle served as chief marketing strategist for Choice Hotels International Inc. where he led the company’s brand strategy, advertising, media, promotion and loyalty initiatives. He also served as vice president of marketing at the Panera Bread Company where he launched the company’s first TV advertising and media campaigns. He has also held marketing leadership positions at Dunkin Donuts, Subway Restaurants and Diageo.
“We are thrilled to add Ed’s extensive experience managing restaurant brands and his expertise in traditional, digital and social media to El Pollo Loco’s successful marketing initiatives,” said Steve Sather, president and CEO of El Pollo Loco.
Valle holds a bachelor's degree in operations and logistics management from Michigan State Univ. and a master’s of business administration from Fordham Univ. Valle will relocate to Southern California from New Jersey and is based at the El Pollo Loco headquarters in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Costa Mesa, Calif.-based, El Pollo Loco Inc. operates nearly 400 restaurants located primarily in California, with additional restaurants in Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Nevada, Oregon, Texas and Utah.
