McDonald's July sales up 5.1 percent

OAK BROOK, Ill. — Global comparable sales for McDonald’s Corp. increased 5.1 percent in July and 4.9 percent year-to-date. System-wide sales for restaurants worldwide increased 14 percent, or 7.1 percent in constant currencies, during July.
“McDonald’s continues to deliver great-tasting, high-quality food at an outstanding value to a growing number of customers around the world,” said Jim Skinner, CEO. “We’re creating a unique McDonald’s experience that is welcoming our customers into modern restaurants with convenient hours and locations and offering more choice in food and drink options than ever before.”
US comparable sales at McDonald’s were up 4.4 percent on affordability and the popularity of the McCafe beverages, including the Mango Pineapple Smoothie, and core products such as Chicken McNuggets and the breakfast program, the company said.
European comparable sales were up 4.4 percent on performance in the United Kingdom, Russia and Germany with premium beef and chicken options as well as the popularity of the breakfast options also driving growth. Also in July, McDonald’s said comparable sales increased 4% in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa, led by performance in China.
