Smithfield's environmental performance recognized again

SMITHFIELD, Va. – For the sixth year in a row, Smithfield Foods Inc. is a member company of the FTSE4Good Index, which is the responsible investment index calculated by global index provider FTSE Group. The FTSE4Good Index Series was designed to measure the performance of companies that meet globally recognized corporate responsibility standards.

"Smithfield continues to focus with increasing intensity on its environmental, social and governance practices,” said Dennis Treacy, senior vice president of corporate affairs and chief sustainability officer. “We are thrilled that our efforts have once again been recognized with this important achievement."

Smithfield received an overall ESG supersector relative rating score of 85 out of 100, in the most recent FTSE4Good environmental, social and governance (ESG) ratings. The score measures performance on many themes, including environmental management, climate change, human and labor rights and corporate governance.
