Salt reduction initiative invites company input

WASHINGTON – This spring the National Salt Reduction Initiative (NRSI) plans to announce a third set of company commitments to its salt-reduction targets, according to The American Meat Institute. Any companies wanting to participate must submit commitment documents by Feb. 28.
NRSI is a New York City-led partnership of cities, states and national health organizations aimed at promoting the voluntary reduction of salt levels in packaged and restaurant foods. To date, 22 companies have publicly committed to meeting NSRI targets.
