BURLEY, Idaho - Poultry Products International plans to build a $2.75 million chicken processing plant near Interstate 84, the economic director for the south-central Idaho town of Burley said. The project includes a hatchery and other facilities at more remote locations that have not yet been named, according to The Associated Press.

Negotiations are still being held and it's unclear when construction might start, but it could be as soon as this year.

The company has already purchased 112 acres south of Interstate 84, officials said. Officials estimate the project could create 1,000 construction jobs during two years and the same number of permanent jobs once construction is finished.
