Pork processing plant to open in Le Mars, Iowa

LE MARS, Iowa — North American Co-Pack, a pork product producer, plans to open a facility in Le Mars, Iowa, according to The Associated Press. On Oct. 26 The Daily Sentinel newspaper in Le Mars reported Bret Peterson, North American Co-Pack chief financial officer, confirmed the news.

The company will provide processed pork products to retail, foodservice and industrial markets with a focus on sliced meats and other ready-to-eat food processing, said the Iowa Department of Economic Development. The company received a $255,000 award from the department in September.

Company executives said approximately 50 jobs will be created in the first year and about 100 jobs in the long term, the newspaper added.
