SAINT CLOUD, Minn. – Gold'n Plump Poultry has added a leaner option to its Recipe Ready Ground Chicken line-up. Available nationwide and sold under the Gold'n Plump brand, lean ground chicken can be found in retailers’ fresh-meat cases in both tray packages (95% lean) and compact "chubs" (93% lean) designed for easy storage and stacking.
Found in the frozen meat case, the 93% lean chub features a full-color photograph of a ground chicken dish as well as easy meal ideas. The ideas are intended to help educate consumers on how to swap-out healthier ground chicken for ground beef in traditional dishes such as tacos, lasagna, chili, and Sloppy Joes. Since most recipes typically require "one lb. of ground meat," the ground chicken packages are available in convenient 16-ounce sizes.
"Consumers continue to look for healthy, family-friendly meal ideas and ground chicken has a more neutral flavor base than beef, so it's a natural choice for dishes like chili and spaghetti-especially for finicky kids,” said Sara Danforth, product manager for Gold'n Plump Poultry. “Healthy eating doesn't have to be ‘boring' or ‘bland'-it can be delicious.”
"We're pleased to see a focus on leaner proteins and that Recipe Ready Lean Ground Chicken can help consumers make that change, without losing the flavor they love in their favorite dishes,” Danforth said. “Easily picking up seasonings, it's a small change that can make a big difference towards a healthier lifestyle over time.”
Products generally retail for $2.99 to $3.99 per 16-ounce package.
