Newly Weds Foods buys Witwood Food Products

CHICAGO – Newly Weds Foods Inc. has acquired Witwood Food Products Ltd., a U.K.-based food ingredients manufacturer and coating specialist. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
Witwood, based in Banbury, U.K., operates manufacturing sites in the U.K., Australia and Thailand servicing a customer base of more than 250 food processors and manufacturers. David Osborne, founder of Witwood, established the company in 1982 and continues to oversee the company, which employs 270 people worldwide.
“Witwood Food Products is a highly regarded and well respected company in our industry,” said Charles Angell, Newly Weds Foods president. “It has a reputation for delivering innovative food-coating technologies and we see the potential in taking that technology to our customers around the world.

Newly Weds Foods, Inc. produces food coatings, seasonings and functional ingredients for the food processing and foodservice industries. Witwood Food Products is the U.K.'s largest independent ingredients business. Witwood’s customer base includes the frozen and chilled value-added food markets worldwide.
