FRANKFORT, IND. – The co-owners of Shoup’s Country Foods will appear on the Memorial Day weekend broadcast of QVC, pitching the company’s porkburger during a segment entitled: Summer Entertaining Made Easy. The home-shopping based network has ordered 42,000 of the products, known as Shoup’s Hogburgers, in anticipation of a spike in demand after the program airs on Memorial Day. This isn’t the first on-air appearance for Amy Shoup Mennen and Cindy Shoup Cacy, two of the company’s principals who’ve previously pitched Shoup’s meat products on QVC on three other occasions.

“I’m looking forward to a return visit, and kicking off the summer grilling season at QVC,” said Cacy, one half of the duo known as the “Shoup Sisters” by QVC’s on-air host, David Venable.

During their segment, Ms. Cacy and Mennen will demonstrate cooking porkburgers, sample them and display finished products as they commemorate the start of grilling season. In preparing for the appearance, Shoup’s hired a food stylist and a chef to prepare and display the food. The sisters were also required to go through a series of interviews and tests administered by QVC producers before making their first appearance on the program.

“Our first appearances were a little stressful, but now we look forward to the experience,” said Mennen.

Viewers will have the opportunity to purchase porkburgers packaged in boxes containing 24, quarter-lb. burgers, each one including a bottle of Shoup’s seasoning. The company will process orders and ship products the day after the May 31 broadcast.

“We want to take the porkburger nationwide,” Cacy said. “We want people across the country to get a taste of Indiana.”
