LAUREL, MISS. — Sanderson Farms, Inc. plans to build a new poultry complex near Goldsboro, N.C. The company emphasized that construction of the new facility is subject to several contingencies, including state and local incentives as well as locating suitable property.

The company said the cost of construction would be approximately $94 million and that the facility would focus on big bird deboning. At full capacity, the facility will employ 1,100 and process 8.9 million lbs of dressed poultry per week. If the contingencies are met, Sanderson Farms estimated construction would begin during the second quarter of fiscal 2011 and that start-up would take place during the third quarter of fiscal 2012.
