Darling, acquires rendering, grease-collection business

IRVING, TEXAS  Darling International Inc. has completed the acquisition of certain rendering, grease-collection and trap-servicing businesses from Sanimax USA Inc.

All of Sanimax's rendering, grease-collection and trap-servicing business in Indiana and Ohio are included. Darling also acquired certain of Sanimax's collection routes in Pennsylvania and the lower part of Michigan.

"We are pleased to have the opportunity to add these businesses to our portfolio,” said Randall Stuewe, chairman and chief executive officer, Darling International Inc. “The addition of these processing locations and routes will help us fill out our national footprint and better serve our customers."

Darling International Inc. is the largest publicly-traded, food processing by-products recycling company in the U.S.. It recycles used restaurant cooking oil and by-products from the beef, pork and poultry processing industries into useable products such as tallow, feed-grade fats, meat and bone meal and hides.
