CARPINTERIA, CALIF. — Carl’s Jr. has launched The Six Dollar Cheeseburger as it competes with other quick-service chains offering "premium" burgers.

Selling for $2.79, this product is billed as being almost twice as big as the McDonald’s Quarter Pounder with Cheese for less money, according to CKE Restaurants Inc., parent company of Carl’s Jr. and its sister company Hardee’s. The Six Dollar Cheeseburger includes approximately 8 ounces of Angus Beef.

"The Six Dollar Cheeseburger provides another option for burger lovers to get a delicious premium-quality burger at a better value than our competitors," said Andrew F. Puzder, chief executive officer of CKE.
