Sara Lee promotes Brett Hart to exec. v.p., general counsel

DOWNERS GROVE, ILL. — Brett Hart, 40, was promoted to executive vice-president and general counsel for Sara Lee Corporation. He is now responsible for all company worldwide legal activities and replaces Peggy Foran, who left Sara Lee for personal reasons.

In 2003, Mr. Hart joined Sara Lee as assistant general counsel, and he was promoted to senior vice-president, deputy general counsel and global business practices (G.B.P.) officer in 2005. He has led the company’s G.B.P. and governance activities, including S.E.C. transactions, shareholder services, E.R.I.A./benefits and immigration employment law, and he has acted as a liaison for the board of directors and executives.
