Syracuse catches bacon festival fever

Syracuse, New York will host the city’s first-ever Bacon Festival Aug. 19. The event will feature plenty of bacon-influenced foods. Locally owned Glazed & Confused will be serving gourmet donuts like “The Dizzy Pig” while Cam’s Pizzeria will be offering Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza.
Dave Desimone, owner of Hammi’s BBQ in Syracuse, will be at the inaugural event serving the Bacon Bomb — Italian sausage wrapped in thick bacon and topped with bacon crumbles, cheddar cheese and barbecue sauce.
Bacon kettle corn, bacon mac ‘n cheese, bacon burgers and hot dogs topped with bacon also will be on offer, and attendees are encouraged to save room for a bacon sundae.
