Funnel bacon-on-a-stick debuts at Iowa State Fair

There are always colorful concoctions at a state fair. At the Iowa State Fair, visitors experienced the latest bacon mash up: Funnel bacon-on-a-stick.
Mama Jane Harris of The Best Around concession stand prepared it for broadcast station KCCI 8 in Des Moines earlier this month.
The bacon is placed on a wood skewer and deep fried. After being dipped in funnel cake batter, it is deep fried again for about a minute. Customers can then dress the Funnel bacon-on-a-stick with powdered sugar and a choice of maple, chocolate or caramel syrup drizzled on top.
Harris said she saw the idea on her daughter’s Pinterest board, and decided to do a taste test with her customers.
