PLANO, Texas – Pizza Hut’s latest mashup puts bacon in the mix but not as a topping.

The fast casual chain has launched the Bacon Stuffed Crust Pizza with Applewood smoked bacon. The new menu items feature a crust filled with a three-cheese blend and pieces of Applewood smoked bacon. The specialty pizza will be available for a large one-topping pizza for $12.99.

The pizza already has a fan — Bobby Moynihan, actor and comedian best known for his work on Saturday Night Live.

“Pizza with bacon stuffed in the crust is truly one of man's greatest creations,” Moynihan said. “On a scale of 1 to 10 stars, I’d give it 363 million stars.”

Moynihan will star in a new creative campaign to promote the Bacon Stuffed Crust Pizza. He will star in a new television promotion as well as in digital content on Pizza Hut social media channels. The campaign begins May 6.

“As the creator of the original Stuffed Crust Pizza, Pizza Hut has passion for pushing taste buds and bringing the most creative concepts to the pizza category,” Jared Drinkwater, vice president of marketing, said in a news release. “With the Bacon Stuffed Crust Pizza, we’re continuing to bring our customers what they want: A flavor-packed pizza that combines two foods America loves — pizza and bacon — into one epic pizza.”
